For the fourth year the South Melbourne Market comes alive with the Port Phillip Mussel and Jazz Festival. Come down and help to eat your way through over 5 tonnes of fresh mussels and give your ears a feast with some of the best Jazz Melbourne has to offer. Kicking off over the Labour Day Long Weekend March 11th to 12th. Get your jive on at this energetic and popular festival.
What’s the best food?
The large array of foods and drinks on offer is sure to get the tummy rumbling. Freshly made sangria to go with your piping hot paella, wok cooked mussels and craft beer, mussels cooked in Bia Ha Noi with a crisp white wine, and ice cream and fun for the little tackers. The market has some of Melbourne’s top chefs and restaurants taking part each year as well as local South Melbourne Market restaurant favourites Claypots Evening Star, Paco y Lola, Köy and Simply Spanish.
There is a real New Orleans atmosphere at the markets during the festival. Some of the best Jazz performers coming in from all over Australia. Some of the highlights coming to the main stage are Margie Lou Dyer, The Shuffle Club and The Pearly Shells.
