Breathtaking fashion reigned at The Melbourne Fashion Festival Camilla and Marc Grand Showcase
The Melbourne Fashion Festival Camilla and Marc grand showcase brought stylish fashion to centre stage on Thursday night’s VAMFF runway. VAMFF is putting a continuously stylish selection of shows at the Royal Exhibition building in Carlton.
The Grand Showcase is a solo showing of a selected designer. Previous designers have included Romance Was Born, Toni Maticevski and Camilla Frank.
VAMFF CEO Graeme Lewsey said Camilla and Marc’s local and international success made them a perfect choice for this year’s stand-alone parade.
“Camilla and Marc were very much on our radar given their success, capability, design aesthetic with international following and stature” – Graeme Lewsey
“It was actually Marc who approached me after witnessing Dion Lee’s incredible Grand Showcase last year, enthusiastically urging us to consider them,” he said.
The premier fashion label brought to the fore some fantastic pieces. The designers displayed leather, tailoring and a moody colour palette – khaki and navy, in particular – key trends this forthcoming winter season. The show’s centre piece was a 21-piece which entertained the audience to an original score created for the show at the Royal Exhibition Building.
Melbournians were out in force and were treated to a stunning show. The response to the Melbourne Fashion Festival Camilla and Marc grand showcase was electric. “I can’t believe they had an orchestra on the runway” Audrey from Preston said to Melbanight after the show. “I couldn’t get my phone out quick enough to film it” clearly still buzzing from the show.
“It was such an inspiring show, truly I felt it was beautiful” – Mary (Elsternwick)
With pieces ranging from gowns to easy denim and cottons. There was something for everyone in the 60+ piece collection.
Cool touches added a great flair to some garments, such as backwards collars on a clean crisp shirt.
Melbournians, Dion Robertson and Sam Wheelan, couldn’t stop gushing to Melbanight about the runway show.
“It was really amazing, from start to finish I was completely fixated on the show” Robertson said. “Yeah I agree. The way the garments came out was great, each piece adding to the final pieces as each model walked” Wheelan said.
Over the next week, close to 30,000 Melbournians will join in the Festival. Viewing 12 Runways, highlighting what’s in store for the next seasons. The Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) is now in it’s 21st year. Set in the stunning Melbourne Exhibition Building in the Museum precinct. There is tonnes on over the Festival, with multiple activities on at The Plaza. Even if you have no ticket to the Runway shows you can interact with the crowds and check out the Melbourne style on full display.
